The Belgian arrives to the penultimate round of 2024 with a 29-point lead over team-mate and rival Ott Tänak. If he departs Germany on Sunday with an advantage of 30 or more, he will take the title for the first time in his career.
Neuville completed zero car duties aboard his Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID at the Herbst Rally last weekend, with the Austrian event mirroring the sort of conditions he can expect across this week’s trination event.
He said: “The main goal is to manage our championship so we can take many points as possible. Of course, we would like to get that title in our pocket, but our first focus will be having a consistent run.
“Last year we had a great victory at the very first Central European Rally. We know we usually perform well on Tarmac, and winning in Germany was super cool for the whole team. Despite difficult conditions, we performed well.”

Neuville: Consistency key at Central European Rally
Thierry Neuville says consistency will be the key ingredient for him at this week’s Central European Rally, an event where he has a very real opportunity to become a WRC champion for the first time.
The organisers of the CER have tweaked the route for this week, but the series leader is ready for those changes.
“We need to do some video work,” said Neuville, “so we will be studying those as much as possible to get a good feel of the new areas.”
After a ceremonial start and opening stage in Prague on Thursday evening, the first day of action remains in the Czech Republic before moving to Germany and Austria across the weekend.
