The Paraguayan driver and Canarian co-driver Rogelio Peñate sealed their championship victory last Sunday with their fourth class win of the year. The triumph on Dominguez’s most local WRC event ensured that no rival can overtake them in the WRC3 standings.
Speaking at the post-event press conference, where he was joined by Citroën's factory WRC2 drivers Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin, the Ford Fiesta Rally3 star expressed his ambitions to take the next step and mount a full WRC2 campaign in 2025.
“This title has been a couple of years in the making,” said Dominguez, who also placed sixth in this year’s FIA Junior WRC. “Last year was our first full season in WRC, and this is only our second.
“It didn’t take too long [to win] but, in the WRC2 championship, it’s going to take a while, I think, to have some pace against these guys,” gesturing towards Rossel and Gryazin. “I am hoping that next year we will be able to do something against them and we will just try to give it our best."

Dominguez eyes WRC2 step-up after clinching WRC3 crown
Diego Dominguez has set his sights on a move to the WRC2 category in next year’s FIA World Rally Championship after securing this season’s WRC3 title at Rally Chile Bio Bío.
Dominguez confessed to feeling some nerves towards the end of Rally Chile, still haunted by the mechanical failure that dashed his WRC3 title hopes 12 months prior.
“Every sound that the car was making I just thought, ‘Oh, we broke something, there’s something wrong with it’. It was all just mental games.
“We’ve had a lot of ups and downs since the start of the season and it’s just unbelievable that the rally I win the championship on is the one which is closest to home!”
