After the summer’s three flat-out gravel rallies, round 10 is all about getting to the end of what will be one of the most technically challenging rounds of the season – the average speed for last year’s Lamia-based event was 90kph, 35 lower than Sébastien Ogier’s average to win Secto Rally Finland earlier this month.
A pre-event test has already instilled confidence in Fourmaux, especially given M-Sport’s strong record on an event where Ford boasts more wins than any other manufacturer.
“I like this rally,” Fourmaux said. “I think it’s an event which suits my driving style and I feel quite comfortable on the roads. I think we can be competitive, but the approach will be the same like before: we will be careful! We have to look after the suspension and the tyres, we know it’s going to be a rough event.
“We also know the surface can be loose in places, so we need to make sure we have good traction from the car. We have four podiums already this year, but I want to make more. Last year, we were really competitive in Rally2, so I have quite a high expectation.”
