Pajari: It's good to have this consistency

Back-to-back WRC2 wins in Italy and Poland have taken Sami Pajari to within three points of the category lead – but more importantly those recent successes have helped further develop the Finn’s confidence.

After a strategic approach to Sardinia, Pajari’s Polish win was all about keeping his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 flat-out in Mikołajki. The combination of those two wins has helped him develop as a driver ahead of another WRC2 outing and, of course, his debut at the sport’s highest level when he joins the factory Toyota team for a GR Yaris Rally1 outing at home in August.

“The times are not changing so much for me now,” said Pajari. “It’s not like on one stage we make a good time, then on the next one it’s bad – the times are all in the window. It’s good to have this consistency.

“I’m also happy we didn’t make any mistakes [in Sardinia or Poland]. We were quite calm and careful all of the time and the pace was there – going flat out from start to finish was largely the theme of the event in Poland. It feels really good now.

“We really have to thank everyone who supports us and makes this possible.”

Pajari has the opportunity to move to the top of the WRC2 table next time out at Tet Rally Latvia, where series leader Yohan Rossel won’t compete.
