Pajari excited to debut GR Yaris Rally2 on gravel

That asphalt speed is sending him to next week’s Vodafone Rally de Portugal with a spring in his step as he looks forward to his maiden gravel outing in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

Ahead of the Matosinhos-based event, the Finn will test the Toyota for two days – acquiring crucial mileage as he looks to bed into the new car.

“We had some work to do with the car after we drove on Tarmac in Monte-Carlo,” said Pajari, “and I’m really pleased with how the team has made some changes. We were struggling a little bit in the low-grip places, in the cuts [at Rallye Monte-Carlo], but there was a good step for Croatia. The feeling is good now.

“I was pleased with how that [Croatia] rally was going – for the car and for my own performance. It’s really the first time for me to be, however we count it, on the podium with the Rally2 on the Tarmac. I’m excited and motivated for Portugal – now I can’t wait for this rally!

“I don’t have so much knowledge or experience of the Yaris on gravel, but the first time I did drive it on this surface it was impressive. I think we will find out more from the test. A podium would be a good result in Portugal, but it would be nice to hope for my first [WRC2] win with the Toyota.”
