Abiteboul, who joined the Alzenau-based team at the beginning of this year, succeeds the outgoing Sean Kim, who held the role for two years. The Frenchman will continue to spearhead Hyundai's WRC team while taking on his new responsibilities.
His appointment as President coincides with a series of senior management restructuring measures slated to take effect from the start of 2024. These changes are geared towards enhancing performance and efficiency as the company gears up for the upcoming season and beyond.
“Firstly, I must say thank you to Sean Kim for bringing me to Hyundai Motorsport and to Hyundai for the trust they have shown in me for this new role,” Abiteboul said. “We have clear targets in the categories where we are competing. We are also tasked with the transformation of Hyundai Motorsport to reflect the evolution of Hyundai Motor Company and to continue to be a relevant platform for the N brand and products.
