2013 FIA Junior WRC
Championship

The Junior WRC Championship is the new name for the WRC Academy and it remains the first step on the ladder for aspiring young rally drivers wishing to showcase their talent on the world stage.

To be eligible to take part, drivers must be born on or after 1 January 1986 and have not competed as a Priority 1 (P1) driver in an FIA World Rally Championship event.

The six-round championship kicks off with Vodafone Rally de Portugal from 12-14 April, with all entrants driving identical Ford Fiesta R2s prepared and maintained by official car supplier, M-Sport.

The price of the ‘Arrive and Drive’ package for the Championship has been set at £115,000, which is a reduction on the 2012 price. For this, entrants will receive a full support service package including the rental and transportation of a centrally supplied, maintained and prepared Fiesta R2, as well as mechanics, rebuild costs, control tyres, fuel, event entry fees, pre-event tests and the full Junior WRC tuition programme.

“Our main objective is to create an affordable entry level for the WRC,” explained Junior WRC Project Manager, Marc de Jong. "With difficult economic times prevailing everyone involved has done their best to offer good value for money and we are grateful for that.”
