Half-century for
Australian duo

Brother and sister pairing Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth will celebrate competing on their 50th event together when they contest the Acropolis Rally, which starts in the Greek capital Athens later today.

Counting as round two of the FIA WRC Academy, the event will also mark the Australian duo’s debut on the Loutraki-based rally, plus an opportunity to build on the second-place finish they scored on the season-opening Vodafone Rally de Portugal in late March.

“Being in the same car as my sister is a very good thing,” said Reeves, 23. “We have a strong connection together and it helps that she’s eight years older than me because of her experience. There is no other team like this in the world championship and that is also a positive thing for us. We’re both similar people in that we’re very competitive and both want to win in whatever sport we do. We’ve been able to find our limits together and we certainly have had a winning formula in our career so far.”

Reeves has prepared for the Acropolis Rally by undertaking a FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy training course in Austria recently.
