The base design has been revised for this season to reflect the WRC Academy’s ongoing partnership with control tyre supplier Pirelli and will include a replica of a Pirelli tyre tread pattern extending from the front to the rear of each Fiesta.
In addition, each driver’s national flag will incorporated onto the sunstrip and rear side windows of their Fiesta. Apart from an area reserved for the WRC Academy’s key associates, all remaining space will be available for competitors to offer to sponsors and partners.
Pirelli’s racing manager, Mario Isola, said: “Supporting the careers of young drivers has always been a key priority for Pirelli in motorsport and we are proud to be the sole tyre supplier to the FIA WRC Academy for the second consecutive year.
“The series is only one year old but it has already proved to be an extremely valuable programme as it gives the champions of tomorrow an unrivalled opportunity to develop their talent on the world stage in an extremely cost effective way. The 2011 season brought new rally talents such as Craig Breen, Egon Kaur and Alastair Fisher onto the international scene and we are now looking forward to welcoming some promising new rally drivers to the 2012 season.”
The 2012 FIA WRC Academy gets underway on Vodafone Rally de Portugal from 29 March-1 April.
