Preparations
continue
for second
WRC Academy
season

The start of the second FIA WRC Academy season might still be more than one month away but work is progressing apace to ready the fleet of Ford Fiesta R2s that will be used as standard in the hit driver-training series.

M-Sport’s Central European base in Krakow, Poland, has been a hive of activity since the completion of the inaugural WRC Academy season in Great Britain last November with all cars being subjected to an extensive rebuild to ensure they’re in top working order for Vodafone Rally de Portugal at the end of March.

Factory Ford team M-Sport is responsible for the build and preparation of the Fiesta R2s used by the WRC Academy crews. The company also developed the standard conversion kit that turns the road-going Fiesta into a formidable rally car for emerging drivers thanks to its 165bhp engine, five-speed sequential gearbox with limited slip differential, AP brakes and Reiger suspension.

Drivers hoping to take the first step on the ladder to one day winning the World Rally Championship by contesting the WRC Academy in 2012 have until 27 February to enter the series.

More information on the WRC Academy is available from Kate Rhodes at M-Sport by emailing krhodes@m-sport.co.uk or by calling +44 1900 828888.
