The Swede showed plenty of promise as part of the Pirelli Star Driver programme last season but was out of luck on a number of occasions and finished 10th in the final WRC Academy Cup standings.

“For me it does not exist the word unlucky but it meant I was unable to battle for the title last year,” said Ahlin, whose third-place finish in the WRC Academy on Rally Italia Sardegna was his best result. “Now we’ve done a season and learned a lot we are in a good position to take a big step forward in the results.”

Ahlin, who will be co-driven by Morten Abrahamsen, has prepared for his WRC Academy return by receiving mental coaching in order to improve his positive thinking.

WRC Academy season two gets underway on Vodafone Rally de Portugal at the end of March.
