Chardonnet was one of just two WRC 3 starters in Rallye Monte-Carlo and initially dueled with Renaud Poutot, in a similar car, until his rival went off the road and retired on Friday.
“We are very happy,” said Chardonnet. “The feeling is not so bad, it was a very difficult place for four days in very difficult conditions. It’s good to be at the end and get the points for the WRC 3; that was our target here. The fact that the two last stages were cancelled was a shame for the spectators. But for us it was not a bad thing. We finished.”
Chardonnet’s co-driver Thibault de la Haye summed up: “At the beginning there were not many [entrants], but we are the only survivor. That’s the best result.”
