Basso

Basso is better known as a long-term member of the factory Abarth squad, with whom he captured two European Rally Championship crowns in 2006 and 2009. However, it’s with the Malaysian PROTON Motorsports operation that he will mount his first major campaign in the WRC for more than a decade, contesting selected Super 2000 World Rally Championship events with the British-based squad. Regarded as an asphalt expert, Basso was a regular winner in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and actually won the pilot version of the series back in 2006. His experience of S2000 competition will prove invaluable to PROTON in 2012.
