Karlsson is competing on her first asphalt rally this week and is doing so on the back of her fiery exit from Brother Rally New Zealand in late June when her car was destroyed by fire.

A minor mechanical fault grounded her replacement Mitsubishi Lancer during shakedown and the heat of the car ignited the grass underneath, which was quickly extinguished by safety marshals.

“And for you who got worried for some smoke pictures, no worries, it was just grass,” Karlsson tweeted. “No more NZ incidents, okay?”

Karlsson is competing in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship this season.
