Aspiring Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC) drivers will have the freedom to run their own cars in this year’s WRC feeder series, the FIA has announced.
In recent years, all the cars used in the JWRC were prepared and run on events by one team. M-Sport was responsible for fielding the Ford Fiesta R2s that were used in the series last year when Sweden’s Pontus Tidemand scooped the JWRC title.
But the FIA has decided to give drivers greater freedom in 2014 and has ruled that they can run their cars themselves if they wish. All crews taking part in this year’s series will drive Citroen
