WRC.com has drawn up a shortlist of 10 talents who shone in 2012. Now it’s down to you to decide who shone brightest.
Craig Breen: Fought back from the death of his co-driver Gareth Roberts to win the Super 2000 World Rally Championship.
Elfyn Evans: Recovered from a troubled start and dominated the WRC Academy. Now tipped for a bright future in the sport.
Benito Guerra: Became the first Mexican to win an FIA world title by landing Production Car honours following a solid campaign.
Mikko Hirvonen: Runner-up for a fourth time in his first season with Citroen. Struggled on occasion after a bright start but excelled with victory in Italy.
Jari-Matti Latvala: Like Ford team-mate Petter Solberg, Latvala made mistakes along the way but was always rapid, as 57 stage wins testify. For the record, Solberg set 44 stage bests.
Sebastien Loeb: Marked final full-time stint in the WRC by charging to world title number nine on the back of nine wins.
Evgeny Novikov: While there were some errors, Novikov showed much needed maturity, scoring points on nine occasions.
Sebastien Ogier: Regularly punched above his weight in a Super 2000-specification Skoda Fabia, scoring seven times and claiming an outright stage win.
Mads Ostberg: Young Norwegian stepped up a gear in 2012 with his maiden WRC victory. He also came within a handful of points of taking third in the final standings.
Dani Sordo: In a bit-part season, Sordo claimed a podium and scored several stage bests in a MINI. His reward: a return to Citroen’s factory line-up in 2013.
