Manufacturers' week - Part three: Citroen
While Citroen’s PSA stablemate Peugeot might be able to boast a more successful Group B history in the sport, the Versailles-based team is really all about the here and now.
That’s not to decry Citroens such as the DS 21, which, of course, Pauli Toivonen used to win the 1996 Monte Carlo Rally in the wake of the exclusion of the British Minis. But, that success, was balanced by its Group B effort - the BX 4TC, which was a shocker of a rally car that only competed at the highest level three times.
Citroen’s first win at the sport’s highest level in the modern era came 10 years ago with the awesome Xsara Coupe.
