The Spanish ace, who is contesting a partial world championship campaign in 2012, will switch from his regular Prodrive-run MINI John Cooper Works WRC to a Motorsport Italia-prepared example for the event at Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas.
Sordo, 29, will perform various driving stunts in his MINI and will also take what has been described as a ‘mega’ jump at the course. His co-driver will be selected from a competition organised by MINI Spain.
“I’m very excited about X Fighters in Madrid tonight, especially the mega jump - I’ll give those X Fighter motorbikes a run for their money in my MINI,” vowed Sordo. “When I was younger I competed in motocross and now I occasionally do a bike race when I can but I’m happy on four wheels. I’m really looking forward to show [the bike riders] how it’s done.”
Motorsport Italia’s Bruno De Pianto said: “It’s my first time in Madrid and it’s great to be here with a Spanish driver and I can promise Dani’s going to steal the show. The bullring is an incredible location and the crowd should all enjoy the tricks Dani has planned for tonight.”
Madrid is the fourth stop on the extended Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour in 2012, billed as the largest and most respected motocross freestyle tour in existence.
Sordo’s next scheduled appearance in the WRC is on ADAC Rallye Deutschland from 24-26 August when he will return to the Prodrive WRC Team fold.
