Q&A:
Hans
Weijs

Hans Weijs has been handed a dream opportunity for Spain's round of the FIA World Rally Championship this week. And he's making the most of his chance with the Qatar World Rally Team by running in sixth overall after seven stages. He spoke to WRC.com.

How was your first day competing in a World Rally Car? “It’s been a good day. We went off some time but we try to drive as clean as possible. I don’t have experience in these circumstances and the weather was making so much mud on the road after all the cars were going through the stage. It was just slippery like hell, just incredible and I hadn’t seen this before. It’s tough to be doing this in a World Rally Car for the first time, but it’s nice though.”

Were you satisfied with your performance? “We make good experience, which we take to the future. I must learn these things and that’s important. It’s my first time and we must not forget that. Everybody was pushing so hard and you can be off so easily. I wanted to make the miles and to learn. Obviously I can have a better performance but I am happy with this.”

Did you expect to be in the points at the start of Friday? “It was not the goal. We wanted to have good speed and make the best result and learn as much as possible so I’m happy now.”

It’s Tarmac for days two and three. What do you reckon? “I don’t know. We must see. It’s a new car also and I hope we have a good confidence and then we will see.”
