Breen’s
rare blip

WRC.com is looking back on the FIA World Rally Championship season just gone by picking out some of the epic images captured by the McKlein photographic agency that made 2012 one to remember.

August: As Mikko Hirvonen’s live interview on Finnish television is shown on a giant screen, Craig Breen’s bid for Super 2000 World Rally Championship success on Neste Oil Rally Finland comes undone in spectacular fashion when the Irishman crashes out on the Ouninpohja stage. Fortunately Breen and co-driver Paul Nagle emerged unscathed and hit back with a hat-trick of SWRC wins on successive events with an emotional Breen eventually taking the drivers’ title less than six months after his best friend and former navigator Gareth Roberts lost his life in a crash on the Targa Florio Rally in Sicily.
