Henning a
non-starter in
Mexico

Henning Solberg has been forced to skip only his second WRC event since the start of the 2007 season after a contractual issue resulted in his no-show on Rally Guanajuato Mexico, round three of the FIA World Rally Championship powered by Nokia.

The popular Norwegian, sixth in Mexico at his last two attempts, had been due to take part in the Go Fast Energy-backed Ford Fiesta RS WRC he shares with Austrian co-driver Ilka Minor. Unfortunately they now won’t be in action on the Leon-based event.

Malcolm Wilson, whose M-Sport organisation runs Solberg’s Fiesta, said: “We have a contractual issue with the sponsor at the moment that we are working hard to resolve. There’s not much more to say than that. We’ll see what happens, but we do have the option to run Ott Tanak and Ricardo Trivino’s cars in Go Fast colours here.”

The Go Fast Energy team began 2012 with a two-car line-up consisting of Solberg and young British talent Matthew Wilson. However, Wilson has been absent since prior to Rally Sweden after breaking his ankle during a fall in training.

Solberg is due to return on Vodafone Rally de Portugal at the end of this month, although it remains unclear whether or not Wilson will have recovered sufficiently to take part as well.
