My Christmas.
By Mikko
Hirvonen

The 2012 FIA World Rally Championship season may have only recently come to an end, but have you ever wondered what rally drivers get up to over the festive period?

As part of a regular feature on WRC.com, we have asked stars from the WRC where they will be celebrating Christmas this year. Today, we speak to Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team’s Mikko Hirvonen, runner-up in 2012 and one of the favourites for the coveted WRC drives’ crown in 2013.

“I’m going to spend Christmas in Finland with my boys and my family. It’s a really special time for me and I love it,” explained Finn Hirvonen.

“We have a very busy year and Christmas is the only time that I have a chance to relax and do very little. There’s no rush and I can concentrate on my boys and my family and friends. There’s snow everywhere, the atmosphere is really exciting and everybody in a great mood. So there’s nothing I don’t like about Christmas!

“For me the most beautiful gift is to see my boys and people around me happy, that’s the most important thing and that’s what makes Christmas so special.”
