Hirvonen's guide
to Jyvaskyla

Citroen Total World Rally Team's Mikko Hirvonen has spent a lot of time in and around the city of Jyvaskyla, the home of Neste Oil Rally Finland. WRC.com asked the hometown hero for some tips about where to go and what to do next week.

1: Watch cars fly in Ouninpohja

“Don't go to Neste Oil Rally Finland without visiting the Ouninpohja stage. The atmosphere is crazy there and you will see the cars fly! Urria is also a very good one to watch and Mokkipera is really nice too. To be honest, all the stages are great if you find the right spot to watch but I’d recommend these three the most.”

2: Experience a great time in the city centre

“If you spend the week walking the streets of Jyvaskyla and share the crazy atmosphere with fans during the rally inside the city centre and also down at the service park, anybody would have a great time. And if you go to the stages you will quickly understand why Rally Finland is so special.”

3: Enjoy some nice food and drink

“For chilled drink during the day or in the evening, I’d recommend you go to a bar called Explosive in the city centre. For a nice dinner, go to the Harald restaurant or Amarello. They serve some of the best food in Jyvaskyla and I highly recommend both restaurants.”

4: Party the night away

“If you want to continue to party after dinner then I’d recommend you go to the nightclub in the city called Bra.”

5: Cool down by the lake

“If it’s warm during the day, I’d suggest that you start walking next to the lake on either side. If you walk around 500 metres, you will find some lovely beaches.”
