Becs Williams previews this week's World Rally Radio coverage on wrc.com:
"Ah Italia... as I sit here writing this I'm looking out over crystal blue ocean, the sun is bright in the sky and there may or may not be a Peach Belini at my side.
We have left the dismal UK for paradise, or something very close to it right now. We arrived in Sardinia just a day early to have a mini holiday break, a day entirely devoted to lounging on the beach.
There are quite a few to choose from in this part of the world - all the tranquillity makes it hard to believe that a rally will be roaring through here in just a few days time. We have a few reminders of that fact, the locals are keen it seems to show their rallying prowess and every now and then a car will charge past disturbing the peace with its twin exhausts. There are a few Loeb wannabes here.
Our little holiday away from it all came to an abrupt end last night though when we went to one of the most popular restaurants in Olbia,'Mama Beach' which is, as the name suggests, on the beach. It was like a rally reunion. Already there and waiting to feast on Pizza were all of the Pirelli Star drivers and co-drivers, next to arrive were some of the leading J-WRC competitors, then the odd WRC pairing turned up too. It was like eating in the service park - albeit with a much better view!
So, the relaxing holiday bubble is now burst, its time to work. I say work - it doesn't feel like work when you are in such a great place doing something that you love. It's not a bad life really is it?
Radio wise this weekend we will be hopefully covering every stage end as well as the usual service park gossip. Jari-Matti Latvala will be our diarist for the weekend so you will hear what has been filling his day, we will be catching up with the Pirelli Star drivers ahead of the second event on their programme and we will be taking stock on what will be the halfway point in the 2009 championship.
Our on air times (CET) for this weekend are:
