Petter
Solberg’s
good,
bad and
ugly

It's been a tough day for the 2003 world champion and former Mexico winner. Not one but three punctures means that the factory Ford driver is currently fifth - but it could have been so much better as the Norwegian's Good, Bad and Ugly reveals.

The good: “We’ve shown a lot of pace from the very start, winning the Qualifying stage. When things go well, they go very well. We’ve never had a better start to the season and there’s still a long way to go on this rally so I’m not giving up: we can do well here.”

The bad: “The bad luck we’ve had with the punctures has just been unbelievable. Two punctures in the morning was bad enough but then a third one in the afternoon - who would have thought that? There were rocks everywhere: I tried my best to avoid them but obviously it was not enough.”

The ugly: As if a puncture robbing him of his overnight lead on stage two wasn’t bad enough, Solberg then suffered a spin later in the run as he pressed on with a deflated tyre in an effort to minimise the time he was losing.
