My Christmas.
By Mads Ostberg

The 2012 FIA World Rally Championship season may have only recently come to an end, but have you ever wondered what rally drivers get up to over the festive season?

As part of a new feature on WRC.com, we are asking stars from the WRC where they will be celebrating Christmas this year. Today, we speak to Norway’s Mads Ostberg, who will contest all 13 rounds of next year’s series with the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team.

“I always spend Christmas back home with my closest family,” said 25-year-old Ostberg. “Since my parents are divorced I’ve always had two Christmas eves: one on the 23rd with my father and with my mother on the 24th - that means twice as many gifts!

“On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, I visit the rest of the family and on the evening of the 26th I always go out with my friends. The worst thing is probably shopping for presents when it’s so busy in the shops. But it’s the best feeling to give gifts, so I don’t mind so much when I see the end result.

“I’ve already got the best possible Christmas gift that I could have hoped for: a drive in the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team. But I still need some new kitchen utensils for my home such as towels and other practical stuff, so hopefully that is what I’ll be opening on Christmas morning.”
