Block hits
the streets

FIA World Rally Championship star Ken Block has followed in the footsteps of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen by charging through the streets of San Francisco to film Gymkhana FIVE, the latest of his award-winning series of online videos.

McQueen was immortalised for his role as Lieutenant Frank Bullitt in the 1968 movie, which includes a famous car chase in the Californian city. Block chose San Francisco because of its iconic bridges and steep windy streets and reckons his fans won’t be disappointed when they watch the movie and the homage it pays to the Bullitt film.

“The San Francisco guys were very accommodating and let me slide in the car in the streets for real,” said Block who was at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta-based Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle (H.F.H.V.). “It’s by far one of the best videos we’ve ever created. I’m just really stoked that a huge iconic city such as San Fran was okay with us doing that sort of thing to shoot our video. The video is quite unique and different so I think everyone will enjoy it.”

Gymkhana FIVE can be found on the DC Shoes YouTube channel. Block will be back on world championship duty on Neste Oil Rally Finland from 2-4 August in his Monster World Rally Team Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
