Citroen DS3 WRC: Used by Mikko Hirvonen and Sebastien Loeb to claim 10 wins in 2012 and ensure an eighth manufacturers’ crown for Citroen.
Ford Fiesta S2000: Craig Breen bagged the Super 2000 world title driving one of these. Four wins from seven starts was testament to the car’s competitiveness.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX: Mitsubishi’s Lancer is synonymous with WRC success and it continued this year when Benito Guerra clinched the PWRC.
Ford Fiesta RS WRC: It might have triumphed three times only in 2012 but with a succession of stage wins, the pace of the car could not be disputed (pictured).
Skoda Fabia S2000: Sebastien Ogier made this car go so fast that he won a stage outright and secured 10th overall in the final drivers’ table.
PROTON Satria-Neo S2000: P-G Andersson was a regular winner in the SWRC in Malaysia’s finest although the title ultimately eluded him.
Ford Fiesta R2: Used as standard in the FIA WRC Academy, the Fiesta R2 proved reliable and pacey in equal measure.
MINI John Cooper Works WRC: Flew in the hands of Dani Sordo. Sadly the Spaniard’s outings were only fleeting and the car’s potential was unfulfilled.
Subaru Impreza WRX: A mainstay of the WRC over the years, the Impreza was a contender in the PWRC with Marcos Ligato and Nicolas Fuchs winning rounds.
Ford Fiesta RRC: The turbocharged version of Ford’s S2000 challenger, the Fiesta RRC was put through its paces by Yazeed Al-Rajhi in 2012.
