Wanted:
Legends
for Rally
Sweden

Swedish legends Stig Blomqvist and Bjorn Waldegard are among the star names being targeted by Rally Sweden bosses for the snow event's new historic contest.

Running over three days from 7-9 February and consisting of 84 competitive kilometres, the historic rally will feature four classes (cars up to 1969, cars from 1970 until 1975, cars from 1976 until 1981 and cars from 1982 until 1985) with an exhibition class for cars built prior to 1990. Organisers expect cars such as the Audi Quattro, Ford Escort, Porsche 911, Saab two-stroke and Volvo 240 to take part.

As well as trying to attract crews from overseas, event chiefs are keen for Swedish veterans such as Ake Andersson, Per Eklund, Kenneth Eriksson, Kalle Grundel and Stig-Olof Walfridsson to take part in addition to Blomqvist (pictured) and Waldegard.

“This is a way to give all who follow Rally Sweden a little something extra and right now where working hard to get both interesting drivers and cars to come here,” said event boss Glenn Olsson.

Per Carlsson, who is managing the historic rally, said: “The interest for this is enormous, especially here in Sweden but also abroad.”
