Eight years ago, Conrad Rautenbach was driving anything with four wheels around his family’s tobacco farm in Zimbabwe, now he’s preparing to wrap up his first season of competition at the highest level of the World Rally Championship. That’s quite a journey.
In an exclusive two part interview we spoke to Conrad about his route into the WRC, and asked him what advice he would give to aspiring WRC drivers.
The first part of our feature is posted now in the WRC Extra section and deals with Conrad’s career so far, from his early experiences in the African Championship, to the highs and lows of his first season up against the biggest names in the sport.
We’ll post the second part of the feature - Conrad’s top tips for making it in the WRC - on Tuesday 2 December.
