Setback for Sordo

Setback for Sordo

Citroen’s number two driver Dani Sordo will start the Swedish Rally with a five minute penalty after his team replaced the engine in his C4 WRC.

According to FIA engine pairing regulations, the same unit must be used on the first two events of the 2008 season.

Sordo retired on the penultimate day of Rallye Monte Carlo with a turbo related problem. A new turbo was fitted and the Spaniard restarted on Sunday, eventually finishing 11th and taking one manufacturers’ championship point for Citroen.

But after the car returned to Paris an inspection revealed internal damage and the decision was taken to fit a fresh engine.
