A group of friends and colleagues inspired by Vince Laverne decided to perpetuate Michael Park's memory by creating the Michael Park "Beef" Trophy. Michael was killed on a tragic accident two years ago in Wales Rally GB while co-driving for Markko Martin on board a Peugeot 307.
The bronze trophy was created by the French artist Francois Chevalier and has been donated to Michael's family.
Each season a smaller trophy is awarded to a WRC co-driver who has best achieved the overall qualities associated with Michael during his career. Last year, Daniel Elena, co-driver for Sebastien Loeb, won the trophy. This year, Timo Rautiainen, Marcus Gronholm's co-driver, has won it among other 5 nominated navigators.
The trophy was presented to him by Daniel Elena prior to the Ceremonial Start of this weekend's Wales Rally GB in Cardiff.
