Q&A: Jarmo Lehtinen

How has the morning been for you and Mikko?

“We didn’t have any good soft tyres left so we went with the mixed tyres, hard front, soft rear so we were a little bit worried because we knew Evgeny had a full set of softs left. But it turned out to be okay. He likes to have a podium place so there was no real fight. It was nice and dry but on these roads when it’s so rocky and you have too much time to avoid the stones inside the corners then you quite often turn out to be too much on the outside where there is another stone waiting for you. It’s tricky out there.”

With such a big gap you’re just trying to defend your lead, right?

“Yeah, especially on a rally like this where there are millions of stones. It’s very difficult to find a good rhythm.”

Why do you think we had so many drivers making mistakes yesterday, is it just down to the fact we had new stages or was it something else?

“Everybody was pushing, the championships are decided and everybody wanted to win, that’s more like it.”
