Ostberg deal was the
best moment
of 2012

Confirmation that Mads Ostberg had signed to drive for the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team on all 13 rounds of next year's FIA World Rally Championship was the moment of 2012, a recent poll on WRC.com has revealed.

Ostberg finished the season just gone as the top privateer in fourth overall with victory in Portugal the highlight of a hugely impressive campaign in an Adapta World Rally Team-run Ford Fiesta RS WRC.

He had been in the frame for the second factory Citroen seat, losing out to Dani Sordo, before getting the call to join M-Sport for a year-long title bid.

The Norwegian received 45 per cent of the votes with Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena’s capture of a ninth world crown chosen as the next best moment. The Citroen aces scored 23 per cent in the voting with Kris Meeke’s appearance on a stage of Wales Rally GB in a Bentley Continental Sport GT - filming for an episode of the BBC Top Gear television programme - taking seven per cent of the vote.

Francois Delecour’s WRC return with a points finish on Rallye Monte-Carlo was the fourth best moment with Nasser Al-Attiyah’s bronze medal performance in the London 2012 Olympics next up.
