Rather than the familiar mainly blue and white colour scheme that has adorned the Fiestas so far this season, in Finland the cars will carry a special one-off livery highlighting Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology as part of a worldwide initiative during the month of August across Ford’s various motorsport programmes.
The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that powers the Fiesta RS WRCs in the FIA World Rally Championship draws on the knowledge of Ford’s advanced EcoBoost technology, which has been designed to provide increased fuel efficiency and decreased emissions in the Blue Oval’s latest production vehicles. The new livery will also appear on Ford cars competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series, as well as the Chinese Touring Car Championship.
Ford will mark the introduction of the special EcoBoost livery by releasing a limited edition range of merchandise, which is in addition to the full range of Ford World Rally Team merchandise now available.
Latvala and Solberg are among the favourites to win the high-speed gravel event, round eight of the 13-event FIA World Rally Championship season, which begins with the Qualifying Stage in Jyvaskyla tonight.
