The organisers of the forthcoming Acropolis Rally of Greece are to present a special award to the fastest crew, in memory of Colin McRae.
The ‘Colin McRae Trophy’ will go to the driver and co-driver who achieve the highest average speed through all the stages, apart from the Superspecials.
The organising committee of BP Ultimate Acropolis Rally said it wanted to do something to commemorate the life of McRae, who holds the record for the most outright victories on the event.
McRae won the rally five times from 11 starts. His most recent win, for Ford in 2002, was his last European WRC victory.
