Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala has retired from the third day of Rallye Monte Carlo after his car's suspension was damaged on SS12.
The Finn stopped near the middle of 19km stage to change what he thought was a broken front-left wheel. But it turned out that the front-left track control arm of his Ford Focus RS WRC was broken, meaning he could go no further.
Latvala had been in tenth place overall, having make a spirited fight back following a puncture on the first day.
Latvala's car will be brought back to service later today and is expected to be out on the stages tomorrow under SupeRally regulations.
