Henning calls in the Ghostbusters

With just 30-minutes of service time available before SS17, mechanics at the Stobart VK M-Sport Ford team have done their best to cure Henning Solberg’s engine problems before the afternoon’s repeated stages.

Henning’s place on the podium came under increased threat on SS16 following an intermittent problem which stopped his engine several times.

“It’s like there’s a ghost in my car,” said Henning. “Of course it’s not over yet, but it’s a big shame. The guys have changed a lot of parts now - maybe that will sort it out - but I don’t think I can keep Mikko behind. It’s not over yet though.”

Meanwhile The Subaru World Rally Team confirmed that Atkinson’s retirement on the road section before SS16 was the result of accident damage. “He spun on SS15, then broke the rear suspension on a rock and couldn't continue,” said a team spokesman.
