Cars left the overnight park ferme at the Dead Sea from 0800hrs this morning. After a 15 minute service, they headed out into the countryside to tackle the first of the day’s stages.
Day two follows a similar format to Friday, with drivers again facing two identical loops of four speed tests, separated by a midday 30 minute service. The bulk of the stages are northeast of the Dead Sea service park and close to the capital city of Amman. Drivers will tackle 109.94km of competition before returning for the final overnight halt at 1629hrs.
Weather conditions were dry and sunny as crews headed out for stage one. The temperature at 0800hrs was 28 degrees Celsius and is expected to rise to 39 degrees by mid afternoon.
Fifty of the original 54 entries restarted on Saturday with Toni Gardemeister the only WRC absentee. The day two start order is based on Friday’s overall positions, putting Dani Sordo through the stages first.
