Atkinson loses 15-minutes after spin on SS3

A spin on SS3 cost Subaru World Rally Team driver Chris Atkinson around 15-minutes when his car became stuck in soft snow.

The Australian and his co-driver Stephane Prevot eventually got underway again but the incident dropped him way down the order from ninth overall after SS2.

“We had a spin but I’m not sure why,” said Atkinson. “Something strange happened. I was on a medium speed section and was driving fairly cautiously when all of a sudden I lost it. We’re going to have a look at the data to find out what went wrong.”

Norwegian Mads Ostberg, who held fourth place after SS2, was another spinner on the day’s second test. “We spun in a narrow section between some snow banks and turned the car around completely,” said Ostberg. “The car was okay but it took us 30 seconds to get it facing the right direction”
