Al Qassimi crashes out of Monte day two

Khalid al Qassimi of the BP-Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team has retired from day two of the rally after an accident on SS6.

Al Qassimi's Ford Focus slid wide on the last right-hand corner of the 29km test and hit a bank. Both Al Qassimi and his co-driver Michael Orr were uninjured but their car sustained suspension damage and couldn't be driven any further.

His car will be brought back to the Ford service area later today for a technical inspection. As long as the damage is repairable, Al Qassimi and Orr will rejoin the rally on day three.
