The second day of Rally Deutschland began from 0615hrs when crews left the overnight park ferme in Trier and headed 93km south east to the first of the Saarland stages.
Saturday’s stages are a mix of countryside tests in Saarland and fearsome roads in the Baumholder military training area. Drivers face two loops of four speed tests covering 159.76km before returning to the city at 1858hrs.
The most challenging section will be two passes through the 30.38km Panzerplatte stage in Baumholder, the longest of the rally.
As they had done of Friday, crews left Trier in dry conditions and under a cloudless sky. It is likely the fine weather will stay throughout the day, but there remains a 10 per cent chance of rain in the afternoon. The temperature in Trier at 0700hrs was 14 degrees Celsius, and if the skies remain clear it could peak at 24 degrees later.
Rally leader Sebastien Loeb will be the first driver to tackle Saturday’s stages, with the other WRC crews following behind at two minute intervals.
Here’s the rest if Saturday’s WRC start order:
6. P. Solberg
8. H. Solberg
15. Van Merksteijn
17. Al Qassimi
19 Van Eldik
Don’t forget the split times either - which enable you to track the progress of the cars through each stage.
