2007 Fiesta Trophy winner Barry Clark collects WRC prize drive

2007 Fiesta Trophy winner Barry Clark collects WRC prize drive

Last year’s Fiesta Sporting Trophy International (FSTi) champion Barry Clark has been awarded a prize drive in a World Rally Car on a world championship event this year, and has arranged for two more events to be separately funded.

Clark, who is 25 and comes from Aberdeen, was presented with his prize by Malcolm Wilson, head of the award’s creators M-Sport. The prize comprised a fully-funded drive on one round of the WRC, but Clark has managed to acquire additional funding to compete on two further events.

The events concerned are Turkey (when he will run in Munchi's team colours) and Corsica and Wales Rally GB when he will run in Stobart colours.

Clark has very little four-wheel drive rally experience though he finished eighth best Group N car on the 2007 Wales Rally GB in a Subaru. He was also British N champion in a Subaru in 2005. In 2006 he was FIA's J-WRC Rookie champion in a Fiesta.

“To have such a fantastic opportunity this year is a dream come true for me, said Clark. “M-Sport have offered me an amazing prize for winning the Fiesta championship last year and, as a result of this, I have managed to gain further sponsorship to compete on three great events this year in what I believe to be the best car in the WRC. This is the opportunity I’ve been working towards obtaining in order to kick start my professional rally career and I know the next few months will need to be spent working extremely hard on all areas of my rallying.”
