FIA WRC Academy promoter M-Sport has reported strong interest in the young driver-training series with 23 potential entrants in talks to snap up the 18 available spaces with three weeks to go before the registration deadline.

Kate Rhodes, the WRC Academy manager, said: “We are currently discussing the 2012 series with 23 drivers from all corners of the globe, all of whom are working towards competing in the WRC Academy this year. We are aware of the impending entry deadline, but initial indications are that the WRC Academy will have another strong entry in 2012.”

M-Sport has also confirmed the FIA WRC Academy regulations have been ratified by motorsport’s world governing body.
