A change to the rules for 2012 permits drivers to count their five best scores from a total of six rather than requiring them to contest all six events, which was the case during the inaugural season in 2011.

That means those who missed out on contesting the season-opening Vodafone Rally de Portugal last month can register from the second event of the year, May’s Acropolis Rally in Greece, but still retain the same chance of winning the coveted title and the prize drive incentive on offer.

Following the Acropolis Rally, the WRC Academy will include the world championship events in Finland, Germany, France and Spain.
