Breen praised by
WRC legend
Mouton

FIA World Rally Championship manager Michele Mouton says the WRC Academy scheme has helped develop Irishman Craig Breen in his pursuit of Super 2000 WRC success this season.

The four-time world rally-winning French lady is delighted with the way inaugural WRC Academy winner Breen has made the step up to SWRC. Breen’s prize for winning the 2011 Fiesta R2-based series was €500,000 funding towards his SWRC season in a Ford Fiesta S2000.

Mouton said: “Craig is a great ambassador for the WRC Academy. After a sensational debut in the series last year, he stepped into an S2000 car and - in the opening round of the FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship in Monte-Carlo - won the category. Everything he learnt during his year in the Academy has clearly helped him develop and we all wish him every success for the remainder of the season.”

Two rounds into the series and Breen’s first place on Rallye Monte-Carlo was complemented by a second place on Rally Sweden, leaving the Ford Fiesta S2000 driver 18 points clear of PROTON’s P-G Andersson at the top of the table.
