Career Summary

Andreas Mikkelsen was a member of the Norwegian junior ski team at the age of 12. However, a knee injury brought his promising skiing career to a premature end, prompting Mikkelsen to switch to rallying when he was 16.

He moved to Great Britain in 2006 immediately and passed his British driving test just a few days after his 17th birthday. He then entered the Quinton Stages Rally - which he won to become the rally’s youngest winner. He made his debut in the World Rally Championship in the same year, and went on to finish in the top ten at three of the eight World Championship events he entered in 2007. His fifth place at the 2008 Rally Sweden when just 17 years and 233 days old means that he is the youngest driver ever to win a World Championship point.

He then moved to other championships. He won both the 2011 and 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) at the wheel of a Škoda Fabia S2000. His reward is a drive in the works VW Polo R WRC for 2013. A new driver in a new team should make for an exciting time.
