The Rally of Turkey is a rough gravel event run on breathtaking mountain roads in the southwest of the country. The event is based 40km from the city of Antalya, with its headquarters and service area in the Mediterranean holiday resort of Kemer.

Included in the WRC for the first time in 2003, the region could have been made for rallying; a network of rocky tracks winds through the hills above Kemer, while towering over these lie the Taurus range of mountains and some of the most brutal and challenging stages of the year. The ability to drive at speed without wrecking your car on the rocky roads is one of the keys to success here.

Like other mountain rallies, weather conditions on the high altitude stages can change in a flash and it's not unusual for competitors to be tackling wet, muddy or even snowy conditions while the service area remains dry and warm.

New for 2008

The rally itself, which under the FIA's new event rotation rules was not run in 2007.
