Nicolas Klinger followed his father, Francis, into rallying, when he began competing as a novice co-driver in 1993 in north-east France. After passing his driving test in 1994, he spent several years mixing driving and co-driving before deciding his role lay reading the pace notes.

In 2006 Klinger won the French Asphalt Championship alongside Nicolas Vouilloz in a Peugeot 307 WRC and they finished runners-up in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge the following year in a Peugeot 207 S2000. They went one better in 2008, lifting the title after victory in Madeira and six second place finishes.

After finishing fourth in 2009, Klinger joined forces with a young Thierry Neuville in 2010 and they finished seventh in the JWRC. In 2011 he guided Conrad Rautenbach to the African Rally Championship title in a Ford Fiesta S2000 before linking up with Julien Maurin in 2012.

Klinger has competed in more than 200 rallies alongside over 20 drivers and his experience will be valuable to Maurin’s campaign in 2014.
