Citroen Total Abu Dhabi WRT
|Drivers:||Kris Meeke, Mads Ostberg, Khalid Al Qassimi|
Starting 2014 with a record of 93 WRC rally wins and eight Manufacturers’ World Championship titles, Citroën has the best competitive record of the teams currently competing in the WRC.
Most of this success came with Sebastien Loeb at the wheel; the Frenchman groomed by Citroen since he was a youngster in the Junior World Rally Championship. Equipped with Citroen’s Xsara, C4 and DS3 world rally cars he claimed nine consecutive drivers’ titles before bowing out in 2013.
Citroen failed to keep the winning momentum once Loeb had retired, however, and replacement team-leader Mikko Hirvonen was unable to take the fight to the new Volkswagen drivers.
For 2014 the Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team is back with a young, ambitious but relatively inexperienced line-up of Kris Meeke and Mads Ostberg. Abu Dhabi driver Khalid Al Qassimi will join the squad for the rallies in Sweden, Portugal, Italy and Spain.
